The weather outside is frightful and everyone is being boring AF by partaking in dry January and thus being firmly on top of their high horse. So it’s time to take solace in a box set and you can look no further than the Golden Globe nominated, This Is Us. Here are the reasons why you need to watch it from the cast to the totty...
1. The DL
SPOILER ALERT: the plot line is GREAT. The show follows three siblings from their birth all the way to their 36 year-old adult lives, with a series of flashbacks to their 1980s childhood. It’s like Love Actually basically but with fewer characters and less of Keira Knightley talking about how pretty she is. In the 1980s the parents, Jack and Rebecca Pearson are expecting triplets but one unrepentantly dies. Racked with grief the pair adopt a newborn who has been abandoned at the local fire station. Meanwhile in the present day the adopted brother, Randall is now a married lawyer with two children. Whilst his brother, Kevin is a TV sitcom actor and his sister, Kate is desperate to loose weight. But if you think this is a case of happy families think again…
2. Milo Ventimiglia: Hottest. DILF. Ever
You may recognise these good looks from the Gilmore Girls. But who cares about that, look at THAT body. Ding to the actual dong. We know we sound really thirsty but who actually cares?
3. Mandy Moore’s Transformation
IRL Mandy Moore is the same age as her character’s children so when it came to playing her older self the make-up artists had their work cut out. The transformation is next level and let’s all take a second to appreciate how far she has come from playing the bitch in The Princess Diaries…
4. Get To Know Sterling K. Brown
As one of Hollywood’s biggest up-and-coming actors, Sterling has already garnered an Emmy for playing Christopher Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson. This time round he plays a character who faces much racial prejudice throughout his life and with his touching portrayal, Sterling becomes the beating heart of this show. Also he's fit and there are plenty of 'working out' scenes that are totally integral to the plot.
5. There’s All Of The Emotion
One minute you will need your hanky and the next you will be LOL’ing around with no cares in the world. If you are looking for an emotional rollercoaster belt yourselves in because sister Kate's blossoming romance with her male pal from Sliming World will take you there!
Side Note. This Chap Is Fit Too...
