Watch Gizzi Erskine Show Us How To Make The Ultimate Chicken Satay Salad

Here at InStyle HQ, we're big fans of Gizzi Erskine. In a world full of so called #eatclean experts (often whose only credentials include having a large Instagram following) this professional chef, food writer and presenter is a rock of sense. She doesn't believe in cutting food groups and instead like her latest cookbook Gizzi's Healthy Appetite explains, encourages people to follow an 80/20 pattern of eating. ‘We’re all multifaceted,’ she says. ‘Sometimes I want a crisp and healthy salad; sometimes I want some delicious sticky ribs.’ So when we heard that she was hosting a new food and lifestyle YouTube channel called Wild Dish we jumped at the chance to gatecrash filming. As InStyle's resident foodie, I headed to the set for a cooking lesson with Gizzi. We wanted to make something that was the equivalent of the fashion world's little black dress. A dish that was an all round multitasker. Something you could whizz up after a day at the office but also make on a lazy weekend for a group of friends. The result? Crispy chicken satay with a spiralized vegetable salad. Healthy? Tick. Easy to make? Tick. Instagrammable? Tick? Totally delicious? Tick, tick, tick!

Check out the video below to see how to do it...

Serves 4

Ingredients

6 free range chicken thighs, boned skin on

2 tablespoons of curry powder

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoon of coconut or rapeseed oil

Crispy shallots

Lime halves to serve

For the vegetable noodles

1 large sweet potato, unpeeled

½ daikon

1 large courgette

3 shallots, finely sliced

A large bunch of mint, leaves picked and roughly chopped

A bunch of coriander, leaved picked and roughly chopped

A bunch of Thai basil leaves (or plain basil if you can’t get it) leaves picked and roughly chopped

For the dressing

2 red thai bird’s eye chillies

Juice of 2-3 limes

2 tablespoons fish sauce

1 tablespoon palm sugar

1 teaspoon tamarind paste

For the satay sauce

1 tablespoon of coconut or rapeseed oil

2 heaped tablespoons Thai yellow curry paste

200ml coconut milk

200ml fresh white chicken stock

4 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter

2 tablespoons palm or brown sugar

1 tablespoon of fish sauce

1 teaspoon tamarind paste

4 lime leaves

Juice of 1 lime

For the crispy shallots

4 tablespoons of coconut or rapeseed oil

4 banana shallots, thinly sliced into rings

You will also need a spiralizer.

Method

1. Put the chicken in a large bowl, add the curry powder and salt and massage the spices and salt into the chicken thighs until they are coated all over. Set aside.

2. While those flavours are doing their job, use a spiralizer to turn your sweet potato, daikon and courgette into noodles. Put them in a large mixing bowl.

3. Make the dressing by placing the chillies, lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar and tamarind paste into a blender and blending well. Pour the dressing on top of the vegetable noodles and mix thoroughly, then place in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

4. Now make the satay sauce. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a moderate heat, add the curry paste and fry for 2 minutes, or until aromatic. Pour in the coconut milk and chicken stock and then add the peanut butter, sugar, fish sauce, tamarind paste, lime leaves and lime juice. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until it has reduced and become a richly flavoured satay sauce.

5. Get a frying pan hot and add the oil. Fry the chicken skin-side down, for 4-5 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through. Remove the pan and leave to rest for a few minutes.

6. Add the mint, coriander and basil leaves to the noodles and toss together. Transfer the noodle salad to a serving dish. Carve the chicken into slices and place on top. Drizzle over the satay sauce, garnish with the crispy shallots and serve with lime halves to squeeze over, if liked.

For the crispy shallots

1. Heat the oil in the frying pan over a low heat and fry the shallots for 10-15 minutes, or until they start to crisp up and turn a light golden colour. Scoop out the shallots and drain on some kitchen paper.

10 Ways To Get Your Zen On (And Chill The Hell Out)

1. Adult colouring books are a bit 2015. It’s all about ‘mindfoldness’ now – yep, we’re talking origami. An unexpectedly calming combo of rules meets creativity, ‘there’s an element of concentration, which takes your mind off everyday harassments’, says illustrator and origami enthusiast Carolyn Scrace. Create your own paper crane and feel your serotonin levels soar with The Book Of Mindful Origami by Samuel Tsang, £7.49.

2. Heard of mindfulness, but think you have to be gluten/dairy/everything-free and a full-time yoga bunny to do it? Then Whil is the app for you. Forget the cheesy mantras – this no-fuss guide talks you through a 60-second meditation to help you power down without feeling pretentious. Perfect.

3. ‘Magnesium is known as the “relaxation mineral”, so it’s the perfect antidote to stress, helping you to unwind’, says super-nutritionist Gabriela Peacock. ‘A lack of it can lead to anxiety, depression and insomnia.’ Keep yours topped up with GP Restore Me supplements and a long, hot soak
in Westlab’s magnesium bath salts, £6.99 to get your good vibes back in balance.

4. It’s not news that a good night’s sleep is well worth turning Netflix
off for, but did you know that a cheeky midday snooze can also reduce blood pressure and help boost your memory? Amp up the relaxation factor for your next power nap with a spritz of Frederic Malle’s Dans Mon Lit fragrance, created specifically for spraying on bed sheets. The dream.

5. Forest bathing – surprisingly nothing to
do with jumping into a lake – is actually a meditative nature walk where you focus your senses on the outdoors, rather than your own thoughts (or Instagram), and has solid health benefits. Called shinrin-yoku in Japan, forest bathing can help reduce levels of cortisol, aka the hormone responsible for all our stress. Sorry all-day brunch, we’ve got some strolling to do.

6.The average British woman has just 17 minutes a day to herself. Make the most of your me-time and get great skin with a face massage. Do as facialist Anastasia Achilleos does and ‘lie down, take deep breaths and massage in your moisturiser to bring a deeper level of relaxation’. Not sure you’re doing it right? Darphin’s handy face massage tool, £125 does the hard work for you.

7. Smudging is a great way to remove negative energy and ramp up the positive,’ says wellness expert Marie Reynolds. Traditionally done using a bundle of burnt herbs (white sage is a fave), it’s super-effective for literally smoking out bad vibes. Too hippy dippy? Burning incense sticks
has serious calming effects – make sure yours are full of anxiety-reducing sandalwood, like Fornasetti’s 80 Stick Incense set, £145.

8. Escape the stressful commuter scrum by taking a trip to über-hip (and totally chilled) Copenhagen. As the capital of Denmark, aka the country voted best in the world for women, it’s got guaranteed girl power. Soothe pre-trip airport anxiety with an indulgent Deep Relax Scalp Massage at Heathrow’s Elemis Travel Spa. And breathe.

9. Since UberPUPPY occurred in LA (yes, cabs with puppiesin was a thing) and we realised that being a panda hugger was an actual job, we’ve had cuddling something cute on the brain. And with studies proving that stroking a kitten can calm you down, we’re convinced that getting our own Choupette is the key to chilling the hell out.

10. A steamy room flooded with candlelight – no, we’re not talking about our last date, but the latest yoga class to hit our wellbeing radars, Hot Candlelit Yin Yoga. Taking place in a studio lit with candles and heated
to 34°C, postures are held for longer for a deeper, more restorative practice. Unsurprisingly, it encourages deeper sleep and relaxation. We dare you to stay awake.

Jillian Hervey Talks THAT Hair, Her Famous Family + Making Lion Babe Work

‘The first time I ever had hair this big, I was like, “OMG!”’ giggles Jillian Hervey, as she scrunches a piece to further pump up its volume. ‘I did it for a video shoot and it’s just sort of stuck.’ The 25-year-old singer/ songwriter who, with producer Lucas Goodman, makes up New York’s slick, soul-infused R&B duo Lion Babe modestly fails to mention how that video for Treat Me Like Fire went viral, amassing hundred of thousands of views and cementing them as 2015’s ones to watch. Since then they’ve opened for hip-hop band The Roots, totted up studio time with Pharrell Williams and count Solange Knowles as a fan. Over her third cappuccino of the day, Hervey talks  about what it was like having access to her mum’s wardrobe – Vanessa Williams, AKA Wilhelmina Slater from Ugly Betty – and messing around in the studio with Pharrell.
Growing up, your mum’s wardrobe must have been the dream dressing-up box?
‘It felt like The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. It was like a mystical place. Her glam squad were always around, too. They were like aunts and uncles to me. I used to be like, “Hi, Uncle Oscar,” and now I see he’s doing Nicki Minaj’s hair. It’s so weird.’
You originally trained as a dancer. Did you not want to follow in her footsteps?
‘Singing and acting were her thing. I moved towards dance as it felt like me. I was like, “She might know about musical theatre but I’m going to know about modern dance.”’
So how did you know you could sing?
‘I never really sang for anyone, apart from in the shower or with my best friend. I was shy. I didn’t want to take voice lessons. I knew I could sing but I just didn’t tell anyone.’
Then you met Lucas…
‘We met at a party. I liked the music and my friend said, “Oh, that’s Lucas.” I went over to tell him and he said he went by the name Astro Raw on Facebook, so I followed him. Four years later we bumped into each other in New York. I asked him to score a dance piece I was doing and it went from there.’
As a duo how do you make it work?
‘I feel like we’re life partners. We’re very in tune with each other. We don’t hold anything back. We’re both really bad at lying. We can tell straight away if one of us has an issue. It’s good to hear someone else who’s not in your head because that can drive you crazy.’
Your single Wonder Woman was produced by Pharrell Williams. What’s he like?
‘He looks like he’s jumped out of the TV. He’s so polished and his skin is amazing. He’d go into the booth and say random words and even if they weren’t real words, he wouldn’t beat himself up. He reminded us we’re supposed to be having a good time.’
How does your day-to-day style differ to what you wear when you perform?
‘I feel more comfortable performing when I’m wearing something crazy. I grew up in the 90s so I love a choker and platform shoes like the Spice Girls wore. I’m a couture vintage girl. I love pieces from Chanel and Prada that have history. My mum’s old wardrobe is basically the dream.’
And what about your amazing mane?
‘I grew up just outside New York City in a very white town. In seventh grade I got called Macy Gray. It really affected me, so I got a weave and wore my hair straight. But when I went to college in the city I saw how everyone was so free and just themselves, so I stopped relaxing my hair and started out with a baby fro. It’s just got bigger and bigger.’
Do you enjoy today’s luminous looks?
‘I don’t think you can go wrong with a dark lip or a cat eye, so when I saw the hot-pink lipstick, I was a little scared. But it works. It’s definitely an escape from normal.’
So what’s next for you two?
‘We’re going back to New York, then LA. We travel so much I never adjust to time zones any more. We’re starting to get recognised, too, which is funny. I feel like we have the coolest fans. They all look like artists.’

7 Times J-Law + The Celebrity Elite Made Us Feel A-Ok About Being Single

So don’t get hung up on the fact that Jennifer Lawrence is single, and if she is then what does it mean for the rest of us mere mortals. Nah, that’s not the positive way to look at it — and if you start down that route, you’ll end up just sobbing streaming The Hunger Games on repeat.

Instead, let’s focus on how excellent she deals with the whole thing — not that it’s (all) bad, far from it! There’s loads of benefits; you can do your own independent thang, you can spread out over a whole bed, you can work or travel anywhere in the world, you can leave a suitcase on your bedroom floor after a holiday without feeling like you’ve failed at life… And loads more things that shouldn’t be forgotten when you’re feeling a bit soz.

When asked about her dating life at the premiere of A Beautiful Planet, she said ‘what dating life? […] I haven’t felt the touch of a man in…’ before LOLing. That’s how to deal with those annoying questions.

Here are the times J-Law and the famous 'singletons' made us feel better about being sans plus one — #singlegoals, if you will…

1)   ‘All I need in a relationship is someone to watch TV with’ – Jennifer Lawrence

2)     ‘People always go, ‘Aren’t you afraid of being alone or dying alone?’ And I just go, ‘I’ve also been in relationships where I’ve been shockingly alone.’ I don’t agree with the idea that you have to have that or it’s a failed life.’ – George Clooney

3)     ‘If you're comfortable with yourself—which everyone can get to, to some extent — that's when you start getting into who is your real self.’ – Shirley MacLaine

4)     ‘I need relationships, but sometimes when I am in one I feel claustrophobic. It is about feeling that I still have my freedom, that I have choices. I don't look back on the past because I like to live in the present. I know this makes some people think I probably never cared, but I need my freedom and I like to keep moving.’ – Juliet Binoche

5)     ‘Women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don't have to settle with a man just to have that child. Times have changed and that is also what is amazing is that we do have so many options these days.’ – Jennifer Aniston

6)     ‘I’m into monogamy. But I’m not really into marriage. I sort of hate the legal aspect of it.’ – Natalie Portman

7)   ‘Instead of getting married again, I’m going to find a woman I don’t like and just give her a house.’- Rod Stewart

Why Ruby Rose Would Never Make It As A University Of Washington Cheerleader

University Of Washington's Cheerleader Rules

Ok then...

Twitter

Another day, another ridiculous set of rules on how women are supposed to dress - please join us while we eye roll.

The University Of Washington are today’s culprits, after this advice on what you should wear to a cheerleader tryout did the rounds on Twitter. Understandably, points like do wear a ‘girl about town lipstick’ and ‘flattering eye shadow’ did not go down well.

To be honest, 2016’s #WomanCrushWednesdays wouldn’t even want to dress like this anyway. Case in point: Ruby Rose. Let’s take a look at how she’d do at tryouts…

Make-Up Do’s
Bronze, beachy glow, false lashes, girl about town lipstick and flattering eye shadow

Make-Up Don’ts
Dark, smokey eyes, nude lips, too much make-up, harsh lines/ contours/ colors

Ruby might have the glow (she is Australian), but Ruby’s look is way less prim and I honestly don’t think she gives a hoot about finding a flattering eyeshadow shade. The actress did collaborate on a bold make-up line with Urban Decay, so she’s smashes the ‘no colours’ rule, too. Dark, smokey eyes? She’s definitely all over that too.

Body Do’s
Physically fit, athletic physiqye, nude or no fingernail polish, natural tan/ spray tan

Body Don’ts
Jewellery of any kind, visible tattoos, distracting fingernail polish

Who knew your nails dictated how good you were at your job?! Ruby checks the athletic physique box thanks to her physical movie roles, those visible tattoos might complicate things. Those piercings won’t do her any favours, either.

Hair Do’s
Hair down, curled or straight, volume, partially off face

Hair Don’ts
Ponytails, slicked back, trendy colours
Oh, so Ruby’s slicked back green hair won’t do? It’s definitely partially off her face (read: shaved), and it’s straight! Unfortunately green hair is definitely a trendy colour.

If all this has got you daydreaming about Ruby, here’s why Ruby Rose’s Instagram is total social media #goals

7 Times Shia LaBeouf Was Our Spirit Animal

Oh Shia, a refreshing spritz of originality is an industry where everyone’s kept firmly in check by their people.

Not Mr LaBeouf though, he just does WTF he pleases.

Here’s our favourite Shia moments ever…

1. You know that guy in New York, Mario Licato, who got punched in the face because ‘he looked exactly like Shia LaBeouf’? He actually rung him and left him a voicemail saying he wished he could bring him soup, and the only reason Mario knew about it was because Shia wrote on one of his Instagram pictures.

via GIPHY

2. That live stream movie marathon of his own movies in reverse chronological order (aka #ALLMYMOVIES) which drew in hundreds of IRL onlookers and zillions of internet watchers, where he didn’t even attempt to look like he was having a great great time but fell asleep.

via GIPHY

3. When he got pizza delivered in a lift, where he spent 24 hours prepping for an Oxford University debate as an ‘art performance’.

via GIPHY

4. If there’s any music video you’d want to be in, and anyone you’d want to be in it with, it would HUNDY P be a Sia song and Maddie Ziegler — and throw in a big cage for good measure.

via GIPHY

5. It’s actually unheard of for celebrities to chat openly about their lives, but the sole reason anyone knows about Shia and Mia Goth’s engagement was because he told a supermarket cashier.

via GIPHY

6. That one time he skipped — plus snazzy tricks) for an hour straight (which he called Meditation For Narcissists) that’s not only hella impressive but seems to take the piss out of the Insta-zen crowd.

MEDITATION FOR NARCISSISTS from LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner on Vimeo.

7. He’s got THE most eclectic filmography — IMBD page, yeh — probably ever. Holes? Nymphomaniac (one AND two)? Even Stevens? Transformers? Disturbia?

How To Do Super Easy Nail Art At Your Desk

Let's be honest, we're all guilty of doing our nails at our desk (add that to the long list of every other deskside beauty routine we've mastered - FYI painting your toe nails is too far people) but it doesn't always look good. Read - it generally looks a state.

Our solution? A super quick negative space mani you can do in less than five mins at your desk. Ever since they popped up backstage at fashion everywhere from Rebecca Minkoff to Adam Selman, we've been a little bit obsessed with negative space nails (aka where you leave part of your nail bare).

Why? Well, mainly because it means less nail varnish. Less nail varnish = less chance of messing it up = a nail art at your desk win.

Yup, stop reading those emails, put the pen down, it's time to get your nail art on. Here's how:

1. Make sure you're starting with bare nails. Not chipped, not half painted, bare. There's no time for removing old varnish and painting over isn't the one.

2. Place a piece of tissue down on your desk (a Pret napkin works wonders) so you paint your nails, not your workspace.

3. Take a set of small white round stickers (the kind you use to mark a calendar with those much-needed holiday days if you're super old school and don't have a phone…) and place each one over the cuticle of your nail so a half moon shape covers your nailbed.

4. Choose your fave shade from our amazing InStyle Nails Inc polishes free with our June issue and worth a whopping £11 (can we get a, 'Say what?!'). Go for a summery coral with California Dreams, a bold red with Texas Talking, a scandi-cool dove grey with Ohio Desire or, our personal fave, the electric blue Oregon's Out. Can't decide? Collect them all (anyone else feeling Pokemon vibes?) and go for a mix and match mani.

5. Paint your whole nail, going over the sticker as well.

6. Leave to dry and consider reading some emails. Decide you don't want to do any work and read the rest of this article instead. Good decision.

7. Once fully dry, peel off the stickers one by one to reveal a half moon shape of bare nail, the rest of your nail painted and perfect curve dividing the two. Thanks stickers.

8. Finish with a top coat for glossy, keyboard proof nails and voila! A last minute mani done at your desk, perfect for showing off at post-work drinks.

Get your in-need-of-nail-art hands on our June issue for your free InStyle Nails Inc varnish now!

Collect all four awesome shades and have your summer mani sorted. Well, when they're worth £11 and come free with InStyle (which we heard was totes a really cool magazine) it just makes financial sense. You can't fault that logic.

Becky With The Good Hair, Taylor Swift + The 7 Best Revenge Songs Ever

Beyonce - Formation Tour

#SorryNotSorry

Beyoncé, we would not like to be on your bad side. Whether or not Bey’s latest masterpiece, Lemonade, is about an unfaithful Jay Z, every single track on the album is now a revenge anthem for every girl who’s ever been cheated in love. We’re predicting many teary nights fuelled by white wine and Don’t Hurt Yourself

But Bey’s not the first. Everyone from Ed Sheeran to No Doubt have been churning out break-up classics for decades, and we’ve rounded up some of the most empowering to get you through the heartache.

Taylor Swift – Better Than Revenge
It’s no secret Tay pens most of her hits using her love life as inspo (you can catch up on Taylor Swift’s boyfriends here), so there are tons of tracks to choose from her back catalogue. I Knew You Were Trouble, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and Better Than Revenge are our picks.

Carly Simon – You’re So Vain
If you’re wondering who exactly is so vain… so are we, but we’re not holding our breath to find out. To be honest, we just like blasting it at old flames who loved themselves more than us.

Justin Timberlake – Cry Me A River
Britney and Justin were the Disney dream, but things didn’t go so smoothly with their relationship – rumour has it Cry Me A River and What Goes Around…Comes Around are both about Britney, with Justin admitting the songs helped him ‘deal with a couple of things’. Best for when you’re so over the drama.

Eamon And Frankee – I Don’t Want You Back/ FURB
Throwing things back to the early ‘00s, Eamon and Frankee’s musical back-and-forth was the 2003 equivalent of an all-out Twitter war. Just in case you need a reminder, these lyrics are NSFW.

Ed Sheeran – Don’t
Ouch, who thought nice guy Ed Sheeran could be so cruel?! The song talks about a real-life situation with another singer who cheated on Ed - on the same hotel floor. Sources linked Ellie Goulding to the track, with Ellie’s single On My Mind said to be a comeback. They’ve both denied the rumours.

No Doubt – Don’t Speak
There’s nothing more awkward than being in a band with your ex, right? Well, maybe if you write a hit single about your break-up… Gwen penned Don’t Speak after her split from bassist Tony Kanal.

Adele – Rolling In The Deep
In Adele’s own words, Rolling In The Deep is ‘my reaction to being told my life was going to be boring and lonely and rubbish’. This song, and most others, were inspired by Adele’s break-up, but what happens now she’s in love?!

Alanis Morissette – You Oughta Know
One for the emotional phase… Alanis has never revealed the true heartbreak behind this song, but we’re so glad it’s in our life.

7 Reasons Why Kendall Jenner's #30sGoals Are A Tiny Bit Ridiculous

Kendall Jenner has been waxing lyrical about what #LifeGoals she wants once she hits the big 3-0 and well, those of us that have already hit this rather important milestone are more than a little baffled.

The 20-year-old model come reality star has taken to her app to reveal what she hopes to have achieved in life (a full ten years ahead of schedule, now THAT's organisation Kendall) and along with the normal yearnings (husband, kids, etc), Kendall has also admitted that she'd like to live on a farm (in Malibu), and own a dog, and/or a horse.

Now, we understand dreams, but at the tender age of twenty, we feel that Kendall hasn't really grasped what might happen once the big thirty birthday rolls around.

We love you Kendall, but here's why your #30sGoals are a little bit beyond our reach...

1. Owning a house

Right. First things third. Once you get to thirty, if you aren't already owning a pile of bricks then chances are you won't be anytime soon. Spending your twenties backpacking around foreign climes and paying back those irritating student loans have left you without spare pennies, let alone a chunk of cash to secure a mortgage. Plus Malibu? Come on Kendall.

2. Owning a dog

The closest we might get is dog-sitting our parents's decrepit old pooch Milo. And while we love him unconditionally, he doesn't look quite as trendy as all the mod-dogs racing around the local park with their cool owners. Plus owning a dog means we have to be responsible...as it stands we have problems keeping a basil plant alive.

3. The husband

It's a lovely thought, and while many of our friends ARE happily married, there are a good chunk of us that sadly aren't. We're suffering the 'thrown back' syndrome on Tinder (think about it in terms of fishing), and being seated next to all of our BFF's 'single' mates every time a dinner party is thrown. It's bleak.

4. The children

Yes, the old body clock. However, being aware that your inner workings are audibly ticking doesn't mean that we're walking around like a human Big Ben. Plus, that meaningful look you get from your nana every time you go home for a visit? Nana, we love you, but you aren't going to magic one in there.

5. The 'chill' life

The one great thing about being 30 is that you start being very aware about the person you've become. It also means that we suffer from more irrational fears. These include weird body issues ('are my knees fat?!'), stresses about overdraft charges, commuting, and trying to remember what your natural hair colour is. 'Chill' just isn't in our vocab Kendall, but it's an awful nice thought.

6. The pony

Aside from fullfilling all those childhood My Little Pony dreams, the thought of owning an actual horse is utterly terrifying. Remember what happened with the basil plant?

7. The dreams

You know what Kendall? Even though WE aren't on your thirties wavelength, doesn't mean we don't recognise that sometimes a girl's gotta dream. You make that life list lady, and we'll see you on the flipside...

Organising A Wedding? We Asked A Professional Planner For Her Tips

Just started planning your wedding and feeling the stress? We asked the Founder and Creative Director of Quintessentially Weddings, Caroline Villamizar Duque, for her expert tips on everything from the dress to the drinks.

The dress

"Comfort is hugely important. The dress the bride picks should take into account factors like the location and whether (for example) the bride loves to dance. Think about the style which best suits your body type - rather than what you think you should be wearing - and the right fabric for the climate."

Decorating the venue

"This should reflect a blend of the bride and groom's tastes and provide a comfortable and inviting space environment for guests. Good lighting is of the utmost importance and is often overlooked – in a venue such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, for example, uplighting the pillars and architecture transforms the space and accentuates its natural beauty."

The menu

"Old fashioned expectations of a formal wedding breakfast are long gone. If your favourite meal is bangers and mash then serve that! With so many international clients we are accustomed to all manner of requests: eight course sushi menus, traditional Persian dishes, and the modern day health conscious vegan selections, catering teams are increasingly creative in meeting all requirements."

"Again this should reflect the bride and groom. Favourite wines or cocktails should feature - these features are what make the wedding personal to them. I like the idea of Mr & Mrs signature cocktails served at an open bar – the bride and groom’s favourites - give a nice personal touch."

The 19 Stages Of Getting Dressed In The Dark

Amy Schumer in Trainwreck

We've all been in this situation

We’ve all been there, right? Your alarm goes off at 7am, but you're sleeping in a room with someone who doesn’t have to be up until, well, whenever they feel like it.

Now you’re forced to get ready in the dark, and it never goes well... These are the 19 stages of getting dressed in the morning we can all relate to

1. You creep out of bed with as little duvet-rustling or bed-spring pinging as possible

2. And then try and find your clothes in the dark

3. You look longingly at the curtains, but you know you can’t open them

4. So try and untangle your bra from your tights using the torch on your phone

5. (The phone that hasn’t charged overnight, because there’s only a plug socket on their side of the bed)

6. You tip-toe across the bedroom, desperately trying to avoid the one creaking floorboard

7. ...but inevitably step on it anyway

8. You’re SO careful in the bathroom, but always manage to drop something in the sink and make the most noise ever

9. Dry shampoo? Spray deodorant? Anything from an aerosol is out

10. You’ll have to deal with wet hair, too – nobody likes being woken up by the hairdryer

11. Even the ‘beep’ as you turn your hair straighteners on will annoy them

12. They’ll almost never have a proper mirror

13. So your outfit is a bit of a guessing game

14. You’ll fall over putting your tights on

15. And won’t see the stains on the t-shirt you borrowed from them until it’s too late

16. You have to do your make-up in the dark, too

17. Which you think is fine, you’ve practiced enough to know what goes where…

18. …Until you see yourself in daylight

19. #MorningProblems

It doesn’t end there… these are the 19 handbag problems every woman will face in the morning

The 19 Stages Of Getting Dressed In The Dark

A 'Ken Doll With The Insides Scooped Out': Check Out Chris Hemsworth In New Ghostbusters Teaser

Ghostbusters
This is not a drill! We are TOO excited for the all-female reboot of this ghoulish classic, starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon. And now, we've been treated to a sneaky peek of what Chris Hemsworth's character Kevin will be bringing to the team.

A 'big dumb puppy dog' the Hems's receptionist Kevin is bringing both the crumpet and the larfs. Check out the teaser featurette below. We seriously cannot wait to see this on the big screen.

Spider-Man
Will Spider-Man be the same without Tobey Maguire?! We've already had time to deal with the fact there will be a brand new Peter Parker (hello, Wolf Hall's Tom Holland), but we're SO excited about Zendaya's casting in the as-yet untitled film. Zendaya is definitely in a lead role, with rumours saying she'll play a character called Michelle, and probably won't be Peter's lady. She's too badass to just play a love interest, anyway… The film is due out in July 2017, so we'll bring more details as we have them!

Spiderman

Cruel Intentions
The film that saw Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Michelle Gellar battle it out for Ryan Phillippe's affections might be a (not quite) '00s classic, but the dark drama is getting a 2016 reboot, due to show on America's NBC. Set 15 years after the original film, the TV show will follow Bash Casey, the son of Annette and the late Sebastian. There's also a "strong female aunt", who has a close relationship with Bash. With the promise of sex, money, secrets and lies, this looks like a must-watch series, especially now Sarah Michelle Gellar has confirmed her return. Reese Witherspoon is definitely not coming back, but her replacement, Kate Levering, is confirmed.

Cruel Intentions

Gilmore Girls
Ok, this might not technically be a movie remake, but there's a lot of love for the Gilmore Girls reboot right now. The show is bringing back OG Gilmore cast members Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Milo Ventimiglia, Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, Matt Czuchry, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn, as well new characters heading to Stars Hollow. The show will definitely air on Netflix US, but we're hoping UK fans get a piece of the four-episode action too.

The Jungle Book
Not one, but TWO Jungle Book remakes are currently in the works, with Warner Bros and Disney going head to head in 2016. Disney have bagged Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray and Lupita Nyong’o, competing against the Warner cast in Jungle Book: Origins includes Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and even Gollum (aka Andy Serkis). Catch the brand new Disney trailer below.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The costumes, the songs, the DRAMA! The Rocky Horror remake just landed its Eddie, and he's perfect. Adam Lambert (American Idol runner up and current Queen frontman) will take on the role in the two hour TV special, while Laverne Cox will play Dr. Frank N Furter. Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan will take on Janet and Brad in a reboot of the 1975 cult classic.

A Star Is Born

We admit it, we had to Google the title of this cinematic classic, but as soon as we heard Beyoncé had signed on we were seriously interested. Directed by Bradley Cooper, the film is a rock musical telling the story of a young singer trying to find fame, and would be the fourth reboot of the film originally released in 1937. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but a possible release date could be 2017.

The BFG
We're not going to lie, the BFG terrified us a little bit when we first saw it. Giants roaming the streets as we sleep?! Pretty scary stuff. Now, Roald Dahl's cartoon classic has been remade as a live action film, out in July 2016, and the trailer doesn't actually look that bad (it is directed by Steven Speilberg...). Watch it below.

Dirty Dancing
It's official! Dirty Dancing is getting a reboot - but for the small screen?! US TV channel ABC (that's a lot of initials...) have just confirmed a three-hour remake of the cult dance flick, with a pretty unexpected actress in the lead role. Abigail Breslin has just been confirmed to take over the role of Baby, originally played by Jennifer Grey. We still can't get over her transformation from Little Miss Sunshine's Olive to Chanel #5 in Scream Queens! Now this?! Debra Messing has also signed on to the flick.

Charlie's Angels
First 1970, then 2000, now 2016?! Charlie's Angels is officially getting it's third reboot in the next couple of years, with Pitch Perfect's Elizabeth Banks in talks to direct. We all remember Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore taking on the tough trio, but who will fill their heeled boots next? Time will tell...

Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins without Julie Andrews?! A new nanny might be hard to picture for fans of the original 1964 film, but who will be spooning out the sugar this time? Anne Hathaway might have been the original favourite for the lead role, but it looks like Emily Blunt is likely to take on Ms Poppins instead.

Jumanji
Jumanji is a 90s cult classic, telling the tale of a 12-year-old boy who gets trapped in a board game. We didn’t think you could get much better than the original, but Sony seemed to disagree, slating a remake for 2017. Robin Williams fans will be waiting to hear who will bag the late actor's lead role.

Beauty and the Beast
Disney fans all over the world were ecstatic when Emma Watson was cast as Belle in Disney’s live action remake, who falls in love with Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens as the Beast. An unofficial picture of Belle’s yellow dress was doing the rounds, but Disney haven’t revealed anything properly yet.

And as if that's not enough, check out these confirmed celebrities signed on for sequels, too.

DIY Ripped Jeans: How To Customise Your Strides, With Denim Expert Donna Ida

The best thing about denim is that is never goes out of fashion. Other trends may come and go but this one's here to stay. Brands like Levi's and Lee are style staples but newer designers like Marques’Almeida are reinventing denim.

Marques have made ripped denim a trend in itself and their pieces have become a fashion industry obsession. Their label is synonymous with cool girls, and just mixing one of their heavily frayed pieces in to your existing wardrobe can totally revolutionise your look.

Picking up on this mania for distressed denim, London based denim guru Donna Ida now has an in-store customisation expert, and for £15 you can make your jeans completely unique (the store stocks amazing denim brands like J Brand, Frame Denim, Paige, Hudson and her own increasingly popular label, Ida). This week our fashion editor and self-confessed denim addict went for a customizing masterclass with Donna. Here are our top 4 tips on how to make your own jeans unique.

1. Frayed Hems

Frayed hems are a way of upping your cool factor. The way to do it: using a very sharp pair of scissors, cut the hem off at the desired length and then use a pin to gradually pick out all of the white bits of thread (see above). This will leave more of the vertical blue threads bare, which will then ’fluff up’ over time. They will fluff up with time, and gentle washing.

Donna says: "Make sure the cut is level. If there are jagged edges the jeans won't fray easily. Use tweezers or pins to pull threads."

2. '70s Patches

As we all know, the '70s are back. Donna has a great range of '70s patches that can be sewn on to your denim. We recommend addings them to flares or a shrunken denim jacket.

Donna says: "Iron on are the easiest way of achieving this look."

3. Aging Your Denim

You want that worn-in pair of jeans or shorts but you don't have the patience to wait for 15 years (neither do we!). The way to hurry things along is to place something flat and solid (like an old magazine or a small chopping board) inside the leg of your jeans or shorts (to make sure you don't age the back of your jeans too) then rub the denim gently with a piece of sandpaper, removing the fluff that comes away as you go. Be careful not to rub too hard in one place as there is no going back! Another technique is to go wild with the distressing and then patch from the inside, which can be done in store at Donna Ida.

Donna says "Always put something between the front and back of the jeans, so you don't create a whole in the back as well!!  Dependent on thickness of jeans to coarseness of sandpaper."

4. Ripped Knees

While wearing your jeans, mark the place you want the knee rips to be with a safety pin. Using a sharp heavy pair of scissors, cut across the knee of your jeans. Once you have cut the rip use a pin as in tip 1 and pull the threads out until you have the desired effect. When you have finished, put the jeans on and do some moving around – we recommend some quick squats and some dancing – to make the rips feel a bit more authentic and lived in.

Donna says: "Always try on the jeans and mark up where you want to rip. Don't rip too close to the seam."

Is The Bush Back?

Two models in bikinis

Go on girls, flaunt what mother nature gave you....

Rex

Any discerning style aficionado will tell you that here are certain things that should remain firmly relegated to the past; avocado bathroom suites, polyester pants, pebble dash and… hirsute bikini lines. (Or so we thought…) Thanks to A-Listers such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz extolling the virtues of letting your lady garden grow, there seems to be somewhat of a retro revival afoot. Chloe Scriminger, head trainer at Ministry Of Waxing agrees; “We’re certainly seeing an increase in ladies opting for our XX Extra wax (which tidies up the bikni area whilst leaving a natural look) following the celebrity trend for going au naturel down south.” Speaking of those bush-championing celebs, Cam has been very emphatic in urging women to embrace the natural look (she devoted a whole chapter  - ‘In Praise Of Pubes’ - of her book to it.) She focuses on laser hair removal in particular posing the question about whether we really want to be flashing the flesh when we’re old and wrinkly? Her argument, (and we're inclined to agree) is that whilst fads come and go, once zapped, hair doesn't and like the rest of our body, our bits are not immune to the effects of gravity.

But aethetics aside, there is of course a more science-y argument for keeping hair ‘down there’ as Dr Vanessa Mackay from the Royal College of Obstretricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) explains; “Pubic hair offers a natural barrier to keep things clean, to decrease contact with viruses and bacteria, and to protect the tender skin of the area. While protecting against diseases and skin problems, public hair prevents foreign particles like dust and pathogenic bacteria from entering the body. By shaving you’re putting yourself at higher risk of contracting genital warts as although public hair doesn’t completely prevent it, it helps avoid skin on skin contact. Pubic hair also helps to control the moisture of the area which decreases the chances of yeast infections.” If that wasn’t enough to have you throwing out your BIC
she goes on to argue that shaving and waxing in themselves aren’t great for your ‘delicate flower’ (Ms Diaz’s words not ours!) “Removing pubic hair also irritates and inflames the hair follicles left behind, leaving microscopic open wounds. When that irritation is combined with the warm moist environment of the genitals, it becomes a happy culture medium for bacterial pathogens.” Seventies swimwear hair we come!

Remington

Remington Cordless Bikini trimmer, £24.99

We may have been swayed about going back to nature but that doesn’t mean we want to go full-on Grey Gardens. Keep your lady garden neatly pruned with this nifty cordless trimmer that works on wet and dry skin and stays charged for 60 minutes.

Malin & Goetz

Malin & Goetz Ingrown hair Cream, £26

Ingrown hairs are hairs that have curled around and grown back into the skin trapping them beneath the surface and producing a raised red bump or boil-like sore as the body responds to them as a foreign object. If you’re in the annoying re-growth stage, treat pesky (and painful!) ingrown hairs by opting for a product that contains skin-sloughing salicylic and glycolic acids such as this one from Malin & Goetz (don’t be tempted to pick which can cause scarring). The combination of these gently exfoliating acids removes any dead skin cells that may be blocking the hair follicles whilst soothing ingredients such as chamomile and Aloe Vera calms inflammation.

Bush oil

Natural Spa Company Bush Oil, £28

Yes there really is such a thing! Why should the boys have all the fun with their beard oils when hair down there needs some TLC too? Make way in your bathroom cabinet for this follicle fortifying hero. Containing all-natural ingredients including  anti-inflammatory primrose oil to soothe irritated skin, antiseptic frankincense oil to keep the area clean and healthy and sunflower seed and apricot kernel oils to nourish hair from root to tip, it’s all you need for a good hair day.

Femfresh

FemFresh Everyday Care Gel Wash, £2.99

The reason many women worry about letting things 'go with the flow' when it comes to their bikini lines is due to perceived hygiene issues. Whilst Dr Mackay should have allayed any of these fears with her argument that pubic hair is actually healthier, for those still concerned about ‘freshness’ make sure you choose products specifically designed to respect this unique part of your anatomy. Femfresh’s Everyday Care Daily Gel Wash for example is pH balanced and formulated to care for intimate skin as this is the one area where soap and water simply won’t do. Why? It’s back to biology class girls. Did you know for example that your vagina contains more (good) bacteria than anywhere else in the body after the bowel? And to stay healthy 'down there' we want to keep it that way. The vagina also has a lower (more acidic) pH than anywhere else in the body to help keep the balance of these bacteria in check. Disrupt the pH (by washing with perfumed soaps etc) and this delicate balance is thrown out of whack leaving other bacteria that can cause infections such as bacterial vaginosis to multiply. Worried about increased sweating? Sporty girls should opt for Femfresh’s Everyday Care Re-balance Powder, £3.49, which offers gentle, talc-free comfort.

Betty Beauty Pubic Hair Dye, £15.50
Unpruned needn’t mean unglamorous if these hair dye kits are anything to go by. Whether you’re wanting to cover grey (finding a grey down here is somehow so much more traumatizing than noticing them on your head) or are looking for an out and out party in your pants (hot pink anyone?) this will have you covered. Obviously there are concerns about using any type of chemical in this intimate area but Betty’s assure that they only use natural ingredients that don’t contain parabens or ammonia with the black/brown/auburn colours containing less PPD than other dyes on the market. (We’d still advise taking care when showering off to avoid the dye coming into contact with delicate skin).
