It's pretty fair to say that, right now, Jess Glynne is ruling the airwaves. With five number ones under her belt and an album that hasn't left the top twenty since it was released less than a year ago, she's pretty much taken on the mantle of her hero, Amy Winehouse. You can read the full interview when it hits shelves on June 30th, but in the meantime, we thought we'd let you in on a few snippets from our conversation with her. It's Jess Glynne, as you've never seen her before...
On the pressures of fame...
'I was chased by a load of kids outside of Planet Organic the other day and I felt like I was One Direction. The crazy thing is I'm still the same. For ages, people didn't know who I was. THen all of a sudden everyone knows who I am. But I haven't changed. My whole life has changed.'
On Amy Winehouse...
'I wanted to be her. When she came out i was like, 'She's basically me!' Part of me was really pissed off that she got there first but I was obsessed with her.'
On her sexuality...
'I was in an interview once and the journalist was going on about I Cry When I Laugh being about a guy. I'm not a liar. It wasn't a guy. I didn't want him to print a story and my fans to read that. It didn't feel right to lie.'
