Kim Kardashian Held At Gunpoint In Paris: What We Know So Far

Kim Kardashian robbed in Paris

Kim Kardashian: held at gunpoint

Kim Kardashian’s trip to Paris for fashion week took a shocking turn last night, as two armed robbers broke into Kim’s hotel room and held her at gunpoint, stealing $11 million worth of jewellery.

Two masked men, who were dressed as police officers, entered Kim’s hotel at around 2.30am and are believed to have handcuffed the nightguard in order to get upstairs without being stopped. They then broke into Kim’s room, threatening her with the weapons, and are said to have tied Kim up and locked her in the bathroom.

Among the items stolen were a jewellery box worth $6 million and a ring worth $4 million. A photographer, who had been following Kim since she landed in Paris, is being questioned by the police. He is reported to have gained access to a restaurant where Kim and her family were dining earlier in the week, posing as a policeman.

Kim, who is thankfully safe after the incident, was described as ‘badly shaken but physically unharmed’ by her spokesperson Ina Treciokas, and is said to have flown back to America with sister Kourtney. At around 4.30am, sister Kendall was seen leaving the apartment under police protection.

Kim’s daughter and son, North and Saint West, are not believed to have been in the room at the time of the incident, while Kanye West cut short his Meadows festival concert in New York mid-song after learning of the robbery on-stage. The crowd booed his exit, clearly unaware of the situation, but Kanye stated ‘I'm sorry. I have a family emergency. I have to stop the show.' Meadows festival then Tweeted 'Due to an emergency, Kanye West had to end his performance early. Please get home safely.'

The incident would have been terrifying for Kim, accosted in the middle of the night and held at gunpoint by men dressed as law enforcement officers. This make the fact that jokes and memes are already circulating the incident even more distasteful and shocking – just because Kim is a celebrity, it does not mean that her privacy and safety are less important than anyone else.

Social media has also expressed little sympathy that someone with millons of dollars worth of jewellery has been robbed of what may relatively be a small amount of that. Again, no matter the price of the goods stolen and the wealth of the individual, this was still a terrifying and life-threatening situation, not to be joked about.

Kim’s friends, such as Chrissy Teigen, aand other celebrities, have rushed to her defence on Twitter.

This isn’t the first incident Kim has had to deal with during this trip to Paris. Earlier in the week, she was grabbed by Vitalii Sediuk, a man who consistently assaults celebrities, including Gigi Hadid, who elbowed him in the face as he lifted her off the ground. Kim is said to be making a legal complaint against Vitalii.
