Bella Hadid opening Versace Versus SS17

We see you Bella Hadid

LFW SS17 made simple – here’s everything you need to know about yesterday’s shows…

How to be totally SS17 without even buying anything
Sometimes the new trends are less about what you wear and more about how you wear it. If you want to get ahead for next spring, simply take you favourite trench coat, preferably one with voluminous leg o’ mutton sleeves, pop one arm in, belt at the waist, leave the empty arm hanging artfully down your back, et voila! You've got yourself an ‘inspired by Simone Rocha’ look in seconds. Taking the idea further, Rocha also showed asymmetric rucksacks made from the same black tulle or floral taffeta as the models’ dresses tied with an oversized bow on the front shoulder. Nothing's ever made us want to have a back to school moment quite so much!

Date Nights at Versus
Fashion’s most high-profile couples often use Fashion Week as their date night, and the Versace Versus show was no exception. Settling down to watch younger sister Bella Hadid open the show, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik were apparently spotted canoodling on the FROW.

Take plait
Speaking of going back to school, we loved the prim and proper plaits on show today. Emilia Wickstead’s were French plaits left to go loose at the nape of the neck, while Simone Rocha’s were in cute bunches for a real little girl vibe. We’re not quite brave enough to try it ourselves, what with most of us being over 30 and everything, but we appreciated them all the same...

Happy birthday HOH
Henry Holland’s label House of Holland turns 10 this season, and the celebs’ favourite designer celebrated by going back to his logo T-shirt roots. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but we loved ‘Give us a toss Karlie Kloss’ and ‘Suck on my toe Phoebe Philo’. Lol.

Colour pop
We're not expecting SS17 to be a dull affair. Emilia Wickstead treated us to her signature quirky colour palette of emerald, rose, lemon and tangerine, set off on a golden yellow catwalk carpet. Yum. J.W.Anderson was all about the ombré, but forget the subtle fades into similar colours; think rainbows and colours at opposite ends of the spectrum, like green and red. And at House of Holland, the checks came in blue and purple with a massive hit of citrus. So far, yellow is the designers’ colour of the season, which cheered us right up on a dull day in London.

And the most unlikely celeb on the FROW goes to…
Julien Macdonald’s shows are always packed with celebs, and regular fans Abbey Clancy and Fearne Cotton were on the FROW. Naturally. Someone we weren’t expecting to see though, was Olympic bronze medalist diver Tom Daley! Here’s hoping for more athletes as the week goes on; our ideal spots would be Team GB’s hockey goal keeper Maddie ‘Mad Dog’ Hinch and pocket rocket gymnast Claudia Fragapane. Well, she is going to be in Strictly, so we reckon that one’s only a matter of time.
