No plans this week? Here are a few team InStyle suggestions to get you started...
Doc Brown
A regular on the London comedy circuit, and frequest guest on Russell Howard's Good News, rapper turned comedian Doc Brown brings his incredibly infectious brand of hip-hop humour to Soho's newest live entertainment concept, 'Live At Zédel' this Saturday. Brasserie Zédel and alternative space The Crazy Coqs will be hosting a massively exciting and eclectic schedule of events this autum as part of the 'Live At Zédel' concept, so be sure to check out BrasserieZedel.com for the full programme. And don't miss Doc Brown on Saturday 3rd September. Tickets from £12-£16.
Bestival
Award-winning festival Bestival returns to the Isle of Wight this weekend for four days of boutique loveliness, and believe it or not, there are some tickets left - so, if you feel like you are not quite ready to let go of the summer festival season (we're holding on for dear life), then bite the bullet, hire a car, and pop on down to Bestival for the weekend. Headliners include The Cure, Major Lazer and Hot Chip, but come on, anyone who isn't travelling to Bestival to catch Sean Paul isn't worth a dose of salt in our eyes. Check out Bestival.net for all festival information.
Dirty Bones
Launching on Wednesday 7th September, the team behind New York-inspired London eatery Dirty Bones will be opening another site, this time in an iconic, Grade II listed heritage building in the heart of Shoreditch. Not only will Dirty Bones Shoreditch be offering all-day dining throughout the week, but they will also be serving diners their new East-exclusive weekday breakfast menu as well as the ‘Dirty Roast’ every Sunday. Feeling hungry yet? How about if we mention that their breakfast menu includes treats such as Matcha Custard French Toast, and Shoreditch Crumpets (benedict crumpets topped with a choice of short rib, smoked haddock or sriracha’d goats’ cheese and avocado). Uh, yum? Check out Dirty-Bones.com for more details.
Maman Le Mot
If immersive experiences are your thing, then make sure to book yourself a ticket for A Place In Time's new concept evening Maman Le Mot. Inspired by classic comedies like 'Allo ‘Allo and Dads Army, expect an evening of secret agent training, French tomfoolery and a whole lot of fun. Check out APlaceInTime.co.uk for all ticket info.
Free Gin Masterclasses
Yes, that's correct. Free gin masterclasses will be held this Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September at Sipsmith's Summer Terrace at Craft London, only a hop, skip and a jump away from North Greenwich station. Join Sipsmith Rich as he presents the history of distilling gin in London, leads a tasting on the Sipsmith range all whilst taking in the panoramic views of Craft London's rooftop terrace and sipping on one of the foraged cocktails from the Craft x Sipsmith collaborative menu. Each 90-minute masterclass is free and includes a complimentary cocktail. See Craft-London.co.uk for details.
Mick Rock
To celebrate the release of the new, unlimited edition of TASCHEN London's The Rise of David Bowie. 1972-1973, on September 9th legendary rock ‘n’ roll photographer Mick Rock will be coming to London to help launch the book. Not only will Mick be signing copies of the book and meeting with fans, but selection of his most memorable large-scale photographic prints will also be on view, direct from the TASCHEN Gallery in Los Angeles, showcasing Bowie’s rise to pop-culture superstardom during the inimitable ‘Ziggy Years’. An absolute must for Bowie fans... Click here for more details.
Nothing More To Say by The Frightnrs
Queens quartet The Frightnrs' debut album Nothing More To Say is something of a beautifully sad accomplishment, being that the band's hauntingly anguished vocalist Dan Klein lost his fight with neurological disease shortly after its completion. However, we highly recommend you download this album in tribute. The homage to '60s rock steady beats and the record's deep soulful groove will grace any autumn playlist. It's just really, really good.
Sagardi
Beloved throughout Spain and Latin America, the traditional Basque Country restaurant Sagardi is now open at Cordy House in Shoreditch. With it's food philosophy focussing on quality, tradition and simplicity Sagardi champions the Basque Country style of cooking using the freshest seasonal ingredients, flown in daily from San Sebastián. We're excited about the Donosti-style Pintxos –a piece of bread with a mixed topping held together with a cocktail stick –the ultimate post work snack (with wine, obvs...) See Sagardi.co.uk for details.
Well, what are you waiting for? Have a great week guys...
