Why We Need Two-Tone Jeans In Our Lives

Everyone got ridiculously into the Vetements two-tone jeans this summer — we almost reached saturation point.

Almost.

We didn’t know the classic mom-ish fit even needed a rework, but how wrong we were. The cool Parisian label, the place for ‘it’ styles over the last few seasons (the dress, the anorak, the DHL t-shirt), did it again with their panel jeans.

Suddenly Levi's Wedgies were ousted from Instagram to make way for the arguably-pretty-bonkers looking £790 style (Browns), and Frame's Le Mix pair (£425, My Theresa).

It’s not totally surprising they caused such an Insta-hype. They’re recognizable (#like). They cut at a good ankle-skimming length (making them perfect for a pair of backless loafers or a metallic ankle boot). And they’re pleasantly high-waisted — not too high so you can’t tuck anything in, and not so low that you risk a circa 1998 hip flash (…worked for Britney but categorically un-chic).

A big internet trend right now is finding new ways to style the shirt. Thanks to Camille Charriere and Pernille Teisbaek, shirt styling is the topic of our mornings — tucked in/out/both, backwards/forwards, finished with a bow… Etc. Conveniently, the panel jean works pretty excellently with a classic (or not so classic) shirt.

Now the Instabait styles have gone internet-wide, so we’ve rounded up the best to shop now (for all budgets and shapes)…
