PJ Harvey, The BFG & The Very Best Things To Do This Week

No plans this week? Here are team InStyle's suggestions...

1. PJ Harvey

If you didn't catch PJ Harvey's Glastonbury performance on BBC iPlayer, do yourself a favour and start streaming now. Double Mercury music prize award winner Polly Jean Harvey (MBE) is hands down one of the UK's greatest ever musical talents, and thankfully (for everyonekind) she's decided to play a short 5 date tour later in the year including shows in London, Glasgow and Manchester. The reason we've popped this info into this week's guide is that tickets are on sale RIGHT NOW, and are selling out pretty fast... So don't hang about.

2. The BFG

Steven Spielberg's much anticipated Roald Dahl adaptation makes it's UK premiere this week, and team InStyle are pretty excited. Fans of Dahl's fantastical fairy stories are already 100% on-board with the casting of legendary British thesp Mark Rylance as everyone's favourite Big Friendly Giant, and because it's Spielberg, touching moments and gorgeous performances are guaranteed. In cinemas everywhere from Friday 22nd.

3. Bluedot Festival

Taking place from the 22nd-24th July in Cheshire, the bluedot festival is an absolute must for those peeps looking for something completely different. Billed as an 'intergalactic festival of music, science, arts, culture and the exploration of space', the event will be taking place at Jodrell Bank Observatory - pretty apt when you consider that electronic pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre will be headlining. Other acts include dance legends Underworld, Floating Points and Caribou. Weekend tickets start from £139. Oh, and Professor Brian Cox will also be there talking all things cosmic. Amazing.

4. Michael Kiwanuka

Ok, all this warm weather is making us think summer playlists. And it doesn't get more soulful than Love & Hate, the second studio album by London-based singer Michael Kiwanuka. Released last week, the album has already received five stars from the likes of Mojo and Q Magazine, and is bound to win him more and more accolades as the year goes on. Download now.

5. Summer Yoga in the Park sessions at The Magazine

Yoga teachers Adam Husler and Anina Grosser in association with The Magazine continue their popular Sunday morning Vinyasa-style yoga sessions in London's Kensington Gardens, followed by vegan breakfast in the restaurant, providing the perfect opportunity to unwind and re-energise. Taking place on Sunday 24th June, tickets are just £25 - perfect to get your summer zen sorted. Email events@magazine-restaurant.co.uk to secure your place.

6. Guys And Dolls

Rebel Wilson is already slaying London's West End with her turn in musical Guys and Dolls, receiving rave reviews for her confident and brassy performance. Don't miss the chance to catch this ridiculously talented lady in action - yes, there ARE tickets still available. Get involved...
